Homicide: New York The upcoming documentary series will not only highlight the crimes but also allow those who witnessed them to tell their side of the story. In this new five-episode documentary from series executive producer Dick Wolf, detectives, officers and other members of the New York Police Department reveal just how ugly the city can get, sharing memories of some of its most gruesome cases. Inspired by true events, the series explores notorious murders throughout New York City history.
Often, true-crime series don’t have enough depth, because producers choose an interesting topic but fill the rest of their time with the opinions of people who have only studied or know someone affected by the crime. Because of this, the audience gets to hear the same information over and over again, and they turn off the series before reaching the end. Created by Dick Wolf Productions, the team behind the immensely popular and never-ending franchise, Law & Order, Homicide: New York.
Created by Dick Wolf, Homicide: New York stars several veterans of reality television, including Jane Lipsitz (Project Runway), Nan Strait (Top Chef Junior), and Alexandra Spector (America’s Most Wanted) Dan Volpe (Below Deck), Tom Thayer (BTK: Confessions of a Serial Killer), Dan Cutforth (Top Chef), Adam Kasen (Criminal Confessions).

Homicide: New York Review & Plot
Homicide: Reality Story in New York is inspired by true events ranging from the 1997 stabbing of a man in Central Park to the 2001 Carnegie Deli massacre – in which five people were shot in an apartment above the restaurant.
Homicide: New York takes the best part of every true-crime show – hearing from people who were at the scene – and makes it a central part of its premise. The documentary will tackle various true crimes that made headlines across the city over the years, hearing from the detectives and prosecutors who had to face these unimaginable acts.
Homicide: New York includes interviews with the NYPD as well as survivors, friends, and families of the victims. The series has all the twists, turns, and harrowing details that one might expect from Wolf’s widely renowned Law & Order franchise – with the exception of Homicide: New York, where every part of the story is real.
These range from the intense grief experienced by survivors in the wake of a violent crime, to the complex process of bringing perpetrators to justice. As one law enforcement officer says in the series, “Every single case takes a little piece away from your soul.” Often becoming career-defining moments for them, these law enforcement officers have sought justice for the victims of these crimes. Played an important role in the discovery.
Later this year, a second Homicide show will arrive on Netflix: Homicide: Los Angeles. The premise of this version of the show will be similar to its New York counterpart, except it will tackle the notorious murder cases Los Angeles has faced over the years.
